Official ILEU Notifications

On this page, you will find all of the Official Notifications that the Union is required to make by our Constitution. This includes Meeting notifications, Election notifications, changes to the By-Laws and Constitution, etc.

Elections for the following ILEU Offices will be held by Mail Ballot in early October of 2011. Nominations for office in this Union shall be made from the floor at the Regular Membership meeting in October of each election year (See official notice below). All nominees for any of the elected Union Positions shall have been employed by the Company for two years or more prior to nomination and must have been Union Members in good standing for at least the preceding two years. Each nominee must also have attended at least two Union Meetings in the two years immediately preceding their nomination.

President ***Special Requirements for the Office of President are as follows***

Nominees for the Office of the President must have completed an ILEU apprenticeship. A completed apprenticeship will require the apprentice to have accumulated 10 Apprentice Points prior to nomination to the Office of the President. The apprenticeship program is designed to ensure that all nominees for the Presidency have some of the requisite knowledge necessary to enable the nominee to fulfill the duties of the President of this Union. Apprentice Points are gained in the following manner:

• For each completed term of office as a Delegate, the apprentice would be awarded 3 Points.
• For each completed term of office as a Shop Steward, the apprentice would be awarded 2 Points.
• For membership and active participation in a Union Standing Committee (Article VIII, Sections 1 and 2) for a full term of office, the apprentice would be awarded 1 point. Note: No points are awarded for membership and/or participation in the Bargaining Committee. Membership and active participation in the Bargaining Committee are a job requirement of a Delegate.

If a nominee has previously held an Officer Position in this Union, no further apprenticeship requirements are applicable. A nominee who has previously held Delegate or Shop Steward Positions in this Union may be nominated for the President's Position provided their previous experience in this Union would have amounted to the 10 Apprentice Points necessary, as outlined above. However, if two or more terms of office have elapsed since the nominee last held a Shop Steward or Delegate Position, then the nominee must serve at least one additional term as a Shop Steward or a Delegate before becoming eligible to run for the Office of the President in this Union.

There will be a General Membership Meeting of the ILEU on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 5:15 PM. The meeting will be located at the Beaver Brook Country Club. Nominations for Union offices will be made at this meeting. Please make every effort to attend. Refreshments will be served.
